Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your return from Hungary. It should have at least two blank pages for stamps. Include a photocopy of the passport’s bio-data page.

If you are employed in the UAE, obtain a NOC from your employer. The NOC should be an official letter stating your position, salary, and confirming the company has no objection to your travel to Hungary on the specified dates.

Provide proof of sufficient funds to cover your trip. Typically, this is a bank statement for the last 3–6 months, stamped by the bank. Ensure it shows an adequate balance and regular income deposits.

Submit proof of where you will stay in Hungary. This can be hotel reservations, a hotel booking confirmation, an Airbnb booking, rental agreement, or an invitation letter from a host in Hungary.

It’s recommended to include a cover letter addressed to the Hungarian consulate. In this letter, briefly introduce yourself and explain the purpose of your visit to Hungary, your travel dates, where you will go, and affirm your intention to return to the UAE after the visit.

Pay the fee and include the payment receipt if available. The standard fee is €80 for adults and €40 for children aged 6–12. These fees are payable in AED (approximately AED 320 for adults) and are non-refundable even if the visa is refused.

Hungary Visa Types & Specifics

Hungary offers several visa categories for UAE residents, each with its own specifics. Here are the most common types and what they entail:

It is intended for individuals visiting Hungary for leisure, sightseeing, or to visit family/friends. It’s essentially a short-stay stays allowing travel in Hungary and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

It is for professionals traveling to Hungary for business purposes such as meetings, conferences, training, or contract negotiations. Business visa applicants should provide an invitation letter from the Hungarian company or organization they plan to visit, or proof of event registration.

It is typically valid for a short period (often 30–90 days) during which you must enter Hungary and then apply for a residence permit to continue your stay long-term. Applicants must present a valid work contract or an official job offer from a Hungarian employer, along with the documents required for Hungary.

This is for long term that lets you enter Hungary and then obtain a residence permit for the duration of your studies. Proof of enrollment or an acceptance letter from the Hungarian institution is required, along with evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself.

Hungary has recently introduced an investment residency program. This program grants residency rights – and eventually eligibility for permanent residence or citizenship – to non-EU nationals who make a significant investment in Hungary. Common investment options include purchasing Hungarian real estate above a certain value or making a direct capital investment or government bond purchase.

This category allows family members of a person legally residing in Hungary to join them. Eligible family members often include spouses, minor children, or dependent adult relatives of the Hungary resident. UAE residents who have a family member in Hungary can apply for this to reunite.

Yes, you need to apply for a visa to visit Hungary. If your application is rejected, you will receive an official refusal letter from the Embassy of Hungary. This letter outlines the reason(s) for denial by referencing standard codes or explanations (for example, it might say insufficient funds, unclear purpose of visit, lack of travel insurance, etc.). While a rejection is disappointing, you do have options to proceed after a refusal:
